Aunt Barbara Coffman's Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies


”I never considered myself a baker until I met my mother-in-law, Linda who bakes dozens of different sweet recipes every Christmas. I became an apprentice of sorts and baked with her every winter for several years straight and this classic chocolate chip cookie recipe is one of my favorites. It comes from her sister-in-law and is a staple all year round in our household. I’ve also kept up the tradition on my side of the family by baking my own family cookies for the holiday every year. I like keeping frozen dough on deck to serve guests with coffee, tea or a cold glass of milk at the end of a dinner party.”

1/2 lb butter or margarine

3/4 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar packed

1-2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups flour

3/4 tsp salt

3/4 tsp baking soda

2 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together sugars and butter. Add eggs and vanilla. Whisk flour, salt and baking soda together and combine with the wet ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips. Scoop rounded tablespoons onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
